MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL
READING AND MATH
After-School Programs are incredibly flexible institutions that seek to complement and support the family and primary school institutions. These programs often fill gaps in education and care, provide a safe place for students during out-of-school hours, and notably, offer mentors. Youth development supports or resources other institutions cannot offer, particularly for children from low- and moderate-income families.
At EERS, we offer students structured homework and tutoring time and opportunities to expand academic interests in fun ways. For those students and their families who do not need assistance with specific homework assignments on a particular day, the site coordinator will assign other activities, such as academic tutoring. This tutoring will target foundational skills in Reading and Math — key content areas necessary to master Florida Standards Assessments (FSA), meet graduation requirements, and promote post-graduation success. Volunteers from college students and retired or current teachers. At EERS, we seek to offer academic support and tutoring within small groups or on a one-on-one basis, as best meets the needs of students and goals of the program.
